WHAT DOES NISAA OFFER?
Nisaa's work has been consolidated into 6 programmes each containing a number of ongoing projects. The programmes are as follows:

Shelter
The Shelter provides temporary emergency accommodation to 22 abused women and their children at any given time.

Women

  • While at the shelter the women and their children receive counselling.
  • They attend weekly house meetings and group sessions.
  • The organization also offers support services (life skills development and referrals) to women survivors of violence wherever possible.
Children
Services offered to the children are given by the child-care worker and child counsellor.
  • The child-care worker provides educational and play activities for the children. Recreational opportunities are also offered to the children, including taking them to the Zoo, Theatre, Movies, Library etc.
  • The child counsellor provides emotional support to the children who have witnessed or have been victims of domestic violence. This is done through counselling. Group work is also offered to these children to help them share their home experiences and to develop their own coping mechanisms.

Public Awareness and Education
The organization is actively involved in promoting public awareness and education on violence against women to relevant stakeholders and to the broader audience locally, nationally and internationally from grassroots to professional levels.
