What is abuse?
Abuse is physical and / or emotional acts of violence towards a woman by her partner.

What types of abuse exist?
Emotional, sexual, physical, verbal, financial.

What are the signs of abuse?
Emotional abuse (this includes mocking, accusing, blaming, guilt-tripping, intimidation, sulking, manipulating the children, always claiming to be right, telling you what to do, not taking your concerns seriously, interfering, changing the topic, threatening self harm, lying, withholding information from you, monitoring phone calls etc).

Verbal abuse (this includes swearing, yelling, making humiliating remarks, embarrassing you in public etc).

Physical abuse (this includes destroying your possessions, punching walls, throwing or breaking things, slapping, punching, grabbing, biting, burning, stabbing, shooting etc).

Sexual abuse (this includes degrading treatment based on your sex or sexual orientation, using force, threats or coercion to obtain sex or perform sexual acts, marital rape).

Financial abuse (this includes taking full control over your money against your will, withholding food and money from you, expecting you to purchase a huge amount of goods for little money).

What is the cycle of violence?
The cycle of violence consists of three phases: The tension building phase, the acute battering phase and the honeymoon phase.
